Alex lives in Yerevan with his parents and siblings. The boy is in 1st grade, he learns with enthusiasm at school and is particularly looking forward to the new letters he is learning to write. Alex is very bright at home, football is his hobby. After school he often goes to play football with his brother and friends. In character, Alex is an easy-going and sociable boy. His friends like him and he is welcome as a play partner. According to his mother, he is getting better and better at working independently. He often reports on his everyday experiences at home.
Alex‘ family consists of 5 people, the parents and three children. Alex has a sister and a brother. The father, Arsen, takes care of the family. He does auxiliary work on the construction sites, which are mostly seasonal. The 34-year-old works on a daily basis for wages. To help her husband raise family costs, his wife Mariam occasionally goes to the neighbors cleaning. She cannot take on a permanent job because her children are still young and need her support. The family rents, which is why the parents have to save hard. Monthly rent is 50,000 dram (approx. 88 euros). With their low income they can hardly manage to take care of the bare minimum. The family is not entitled to social assistance as they are not registered with the residential address where they rent. Mother Mariam is often in debt at the grocery store so that she can feed her children. Alex’s older brother is called Karo. He is 10 years old and is in 5th grade. This is also a sociable and bright boy. Karo has problems with his nose. According to his mother, he should undergo surgery. The youngest child is Anahit. She is 1 year old and everyone takes care of her at home. Anahit is the focus of her family, she always has a beautiful smile. The income of this family of five is unstable. All parents think about all the time is to be able to pay their rent in good time so as not to end up on the street. Above all, the parents have more worries in winter, as they have to heat the apartment, which in turn causes additional costs.
We want to include Alex and his siblings in our sponsorship program. They would be provided with monthly grocery packages. This would not only put an end to their livelihood worries, but the money the family saved could also be invested elsewhere. With support, this family would feel strong and not alone in their worries. Mention should also be made of the medical and dental assistance that Alex, as a sponsored child, can make use of free of charge. Thank you for your willingness to donate and wish you God’s rich blessings!
