Elen is 4 years old. This is a healthy, nice, bright child. She likes to play with Lego blocks, draw with colourful pencils. In the future she dreams of becoming a doctor and helping all the sick. Elen is a real animal lover. She is much more relaxed at home than in the unfamiliar environment. Elen prefers to play with dolls, she likes to comb their hair, always does new hairstyles, showers them and loves to cuddle them. Unfortunately, Elen does not attend a kindergarten because there is none in her home village. Next year she will be able to start preschool and the anticipation is great.
Elen comes from a socially disadvantaged family who lives in the village of Ttu Dschur, which is 130 km from the capital Yerevan, and consists of 5 people. Neither the father nor the mother have a permanent job. The grandfather receives a small old-age pension, which is barely sufficient for monthly costs for electricity, gas, water and which is only used for this. The father of the family earned a living as a guest worker in Russia until a year ago before the start of the corona pandemic. He has also been unemployed for more than a year. The family mostly lives from some agriculture. They also keep two cows, sheep and chickens. In the garden in front of the house, the grandparents plant potatoes and beans, which grow best in the climate. The family tries very hard, they do their best to make ends meet, but they still lack a lot of important things. The family lives in a very old house that has not been renovated for many years, the rooms are half painted. The floor is made of concrete. There is no bathroom or toilet in the house. They’re kind of built in a corner outside. There is no central heating, in a small stove you put wood, dried cow dung, various old things.
Elen and her family urgently need our help because they can hardly meet the basic needs. They always have to save and forego a lot in order to be able to get the bare minimum in the extensive household. Elen needs warm clothes and food full of vitamins. We would like to include her in our sponsorship program and thereby ease the worries of her parents. As a sponsored child, she would receive an extensive grocery package every month, including medical and dental help if necessary, which could enable her to have a more carefree childhood. The parents could save on food costs, which would be valuable and incredibly important to them. Thank you in advance for your support and willingness to donate.
