Young people are capable of hard work to provide for themselves and their families. Old people, who often had to do hard work in their lives, looked after their families and now suffer from physical complaints, can no longer do this. They need help.
So does Venera Tumanyan. We met her in the Tavush region. Her small room is in a remote place and cannot be reached by car. Her few belongings and memories of a better time are in a shabby box. The malnutrition has visibly weakened her, she is marked by illness and can hardly move her fingers. Even her words can no longer be understood clearly; we have to ask several times. Every day she walks a long way to a soup kitchen in which meals are prepared for around 60 people every day. Without these meals the elderly woman would have starved to death long ago. She no longer has her own family. And the memory of earlier times also fades with time.
What a hot meal means to the elderly people

We want to ensure that these people have their daily meal at the end of their lives! For this purpose, we would like to set up small soup kitchens at various locations in the Tavush region, in cooperation with local parishes, in order to save those in need from the long daily march. Our goal is to offer daily meals which are delivered to the homes of the sick and weak. For the seniors who are able to come to the soup kitchen to pick up their meal, this should be a place of company and appreciation. In order to provide and deliver the necessary groceries, we need 13 euros per person per month.
Upon request, we also offer sponsorships for elderly people for 48 euros per month. Please contact us for details!
