Young people are capable of hard work to provide for themselves and their families. Old people, who often had to do hard work in their lives, looked after their families and now suffer from physical complaints, can no longer do this. They need help.
So does Venera Tumanyan. We met her in the Tavush region. Her small room is in a remote place and cannot be reached by car. Her few belongings and memories of a better time are in a shabby box. When we first met her, malnutrition had visibly weakened her and she was marked by illness. Even her words were no longer very clear. She walks a long way to the soup kitchen every day. Without these meals, the elderly lady would probably have starved long ago. She no longer has a family of her own.
Thanks to the regular meals, the contact with the caring people in the soup kitchen and the care provided by a senior sponsorship, Venera is now doing much better. She sometimes brings flowers to the soup kitchen staff out of gratitude.
Three cooks work in the soup kitchen, which currently cooks daily for 65 people, mainly elderly, but also other needy people. In the summer of 2023, the soup kitchen was able to move to new premises. This has made caring for those in need much easier.
In order to provide and deliver the necessary groceries, we need 13 euros per person per month.
Upon request, we also offer sponsorships for elderly people for 48 euros per month. Please contact us for details!
